The label began when siblings Bruno, Marino and Maria Magli turned the shoemaking they'd learned from their grandfather into a family workshop — Bruno handled design, Maria stitched the uppers and Marino built the soles — opening the Calzaturificio Magli that same year and their first dedicated factory in 1947. What started as a women's footwear line grew into menswear and accessories, and by the 1980s the brand had spread to more than 40 retail stores across the US, Europe, Australia and China. Marquee Brands of New York acquired Bruno Magli in 2015, but its design and production have stayed rooted in Italy.
